DR ZOE HAMILTON

A little about me...

I am a Clinical Psychologist with a wish and hope to make therapies accessible and give people positive experiences of a helping relationship. I currently work in a specialist London NHS service with people with complex anxiety, depression, and trauma, and deliver group and individual Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) for people with a range of life struggles. I also work as a psychologist in a specialist Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) team at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals and offer therapy with a perinatal trauma and loss team in South West London.

You might like to see me if...

I have experience working with a range of common struggles including depression, anxiety, trauma, hearing voices, loss and adjustment, panic, sleep difficulties, bipolar disorder, health anxiety, attachment anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) including retroactive jealousy and ROCD, low self-esteem and perfectionism. Areas of specialist interest and experience including working with chronic pain and psychosexual adjustment, as well as working with families in the perinatal period and with adult attachment difficulties later in life.

A little about my approach...

I prioritise collaboration and patient choice and consider wider determinants of mental health struggles as part of a holistic approach to wellbeing. My approach involves supporting people to reduce the potential shame and self-blame that can accompany seeking help and increasing a sense of safety between client and therapist in order to make best use of the therapeutic space together.

I draw from different therapies integratively in my practice, including from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and
Reprocessing (EMDR), using this approach regularly in my trauma work.
