DR JULIE READ

A little about me...

I am a Counselling Psychologist, registered with the Health Care and Professions Council (HCPC) and chartered with the British Psychological Society (BPS). I have over 10 years of clinical experience in the NHS both in research and therapeutic practice and I am currently working in a specialist NHS Perinatal Mental Health team and see women and families. As a Counselling Psychologist, I work collaboratively and from a holistic point of view. I have a particular research and clinical interest in Functional (Dissociative) Seizures.

You might like to see me if...

You are struggling with depression, relationships, anxiety disorders, trauma, panic, bereavement, OCD and life transitions. In terms of relationships, this might mean thinking about how your childhood relationships or more distant past can shed light on what is happening now. Therapy will give you the chance to explore, at your own pace, how this may be influencing your current relationships, and we can work towards identifying ways in which you can move forward. Or we may focus more on ways to reduce and stop current symptoms of anxiety and depression which might be preventing you progressing with your life or goals.

A little about my approach...

My approach is relational and I draw from a number of therapies, in particular Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioural and Person-centred.
