A little about me...
I am a Counselling Psychologist with over 10 years of clinical experience in the NHS both in therapeutic practice and research. My work is dedicated to nurturing and enhancing clients’ psychological wellbeing. We can often feel burdened or stressed by life’s challenges and instead of talking and finding solutions, it might feel easier to stay quiet, isolate or avoid our worst fears. This can leave issues unresolved which may then manifest in psychological and physical symptoms. While I am trained as a Counselling Psychologist to work with a broad range of issues, I also specialise in the NHS as a Perinatal Psychologist and offer a range of therapies to women and couples.
What I can help with...
People come to therapy with a wide range of concerns which in itself can feel overwhelming when trying to find the right person to help. I can help if you arewanting to try and make sense of low mood, or feelings of dissatisfaction with relationships or work, struggling with anxiety or a need to process one or several traumatic events. It might be a bereavement or a life transition.
In terms of relationships, we might think about how you relate to yourself or others, or how your childhood relationships or less distant past might shed light on what is happening now. We will work towards identifying ways in which you can move forward. Alternatively, we may focus more on the here and now, finding ways to reduce and stop symptoms of anxiety and depression which might be preventing you progressing with your life or goals.
A little about my approach...
My counselling approach is both compassionate and non-judgemental and I prioritise creating a safe, non-judgemental place to work collaboratively. Clients have told me that they have felt able to build a trusting and safe relationship in our therapy sessions, allowing them to see things from a different perspective or make certain changes. I offer both short and long-term therapy and I work using an integrative approach. This means I make use of the different psychological approaches I have been trained in to adapt to your individual needs and goals. I draw from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), as well as Psychodynamic and Person-centred therapy.
